Summer  Term 2026

Welcome to the final term of Year 3!

We are really excited to continue learning this term in Eagle Class!

In English we will be inspired by the book 'What the Romans did for us.' to create a non-chronological report. The second half of the term will look at poetry, where the children will have the chance to build up and write their own poetic piece all about 'What are you?'

The children in Maths will continue to learn a range of mathematical concepts from Power Maths (such as perimeter, money and time)

Topics will draw on prior knowledge from what was learnt in KS1.

In Religious Education children will look into Judaism, to explore the question ' ‘How do festivals and family life show what matters to Jewish people?'

Children will be given the opportunity to consider other religions.

We will also be able to explore Christianity and other religions further, by looking at the thematic question ' How and why do people try to make the world a better place?  '

Our Science topics this term will look into plants, forces, and magnetism. Children will ultimately be able to plan, prepare, explore, and evaluate their own experiment.

History in the first half term will take us to the Roman Empire where children will explore how this period shaped the development of British society.

Geography will take place in the second half of the Summer term, when we will look at settlements and our local environment.

In Art & Design we will be looking at creating 3 dimensional characters inspired by those in film and fiction.

Our Design & Technology the children will learn to identify and learn about the key features of a castle, before designing and making a recycled-material castle (structure).

In PSHE we will be looking at the themes of ‘Relationships' and also 'Changing Me'.

French will be taught by Madame Stacey and Mr Servant will teach Music on a Monday.

In Computing we will look at developing film and editing videos.

In PE we will be learning how to compete in athletics and in the second half term, children will learn to play cricket. This will be with Mrs Cox on a Tuesday so children will need their PE kits. Swimming will take place on a Thursday so children will need to wear their swimming costume underneath their uniforms and remember to bring a bag with a towel and dry clothes.

The overview of the term can be seen in Eagle Class curriculum booklet.
