English

In English, we will be exploring the story of Beegu. We will write a lost poster, describe Beegu and her planet, and write letters to her from children. We will also create signs and simple instructions to help Beegu understand life on Earth, and write a free verse poem.
We will practise our Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation every day, along with Reading Comprehension to help us become confident readers.

Mathematics

In Maths, we will use Power Maths to help us learn lots of important skills. These include addition and subtraction within 20, understanding numbers up to 100, and learning about length, height, mass and capacity.
We will also explore multiplication and division, simple fractions, position and direction, as well as money and time.

Science

In Science, we will learn about plants. We will identify and name common wild and garden plants, including deciduous and evergreen trees. We will also learn about the different parts of plants, including flowering plants and trees.

Religious Education

In RE, we will explore why prayers and blessings are important to Jewish families, learning about Tefillah (prayer) and how it is used during Shabbat and with food. We will also learn about Sukkot, a special festival.
Later in the term, we will think about the question: What do Christians believe God is like?

History

In History, we will learn about The History of Flight. We will discover who the Wright brothers were and learn about the first aeroplane flight. We will use a timeline and look at how aircraft have changed over time.

Geography

In Geography, we will explore the question: What is it like to live in Shanghai? We will learn about this city and compare it to where we live.

Art & Design

In Art, we will explore sculpture, using different materials to create our own 3D artwork.

Design & Technology

In DT, we will learn how to prepare food safely by cutting and juicing. We will design and make our own smoothie, choosing fruits and vegetables to match a design brief.

PSHE

In PSHE, we will follow the Jigsaw programme and learn about Relationships and Changing Me, helping us understand ourselves and others.

French & Music

In French, we will learn the days of the week.
In Music, we will compose our own nursery rhyme, exploring rhythm and melody.

Computing

In Computing, we will begin learning about technology and how it helps us, exploring simple ways to use computers safely and creatively.
