Summer Term 2026
The Summer Term is now here and Butterfly Class have a fantastic fun-filled time ahead with lots of fun, creativity and plenty of opportunities to move learning forward and to meet those high expectations. Our classroom will be filled with love, care, and happy smiles.
In English, the children will be prioritising quality over quantity by mastering the core building blocks of writing. They will focus on developing a polished, joined handwriting style and improving their spelling accuracy through phonic knowledge.
By practicing verbal composition and reinforcing punctuation "non-negotiables," the children will learn to craft clear, professional, and high-quality sentences rather than simply focusing on length.
In Science we will be looking closely at seeds and bulbs and thinking about how these grow into plants. We even have a fantastic trip to Wakehurst organised.
In Design Technology the children will be introduced to the fundamentals of mechanical design by creating a moving monster. They will explore how mechanisms like linkages and pivots can be used to create movement in designs.
Art As artist the children will begin to understand how artists can use their creativity to re-see, re-invent or reimagine the world around them. They will be asked to reconsider an object they know well—such as a stick or twig—and think about how they can use their creativity to change it.
In Religious Education, ‘What is the good news that Jesus brings?’ The childre will learn about the concept of ‘Gospel’ and the good news of peace, forgiveness and love the Christians believe Jesus brings. They will be will be finding out about various places of worship and why they are important to many believers. They will focus on the key features of mosques, churches and synagogues learning about how these can vary within different traditions.
